Optoma, one of the leading manufacturers of digital projection and display devices, today announced the availability of its new product- the EP1690, a native widescreen digital projector that delivers performance and picture quality for the latest widescreen notebooks, DVD releases and other high-definition content.

Furthermore, the EP1690 features Optoma's exclusive Widescreen Maximizer which guarantees perfect picture matching between the video source and the projector.

?With a DarkChip2 DLP chipset and BrilliantColor technology, both by Texas Instruments, the Optoma EP1690 projects high-quality images. More precisely, the BrilliantColor color processing technology, along with the 2500 lumens and 2500:1 contrast ratio of the EP1690, ensures that the projector delivers higher brightness and provides truer, more vibrant colors to the picture on display. Its 1280 x 768 WXGA resolution provides up to 25 percent higher resolution than a standard 1024 x 768 XGA projector, allowing the Optoma EP1690 to display crisper and more vibrant graphics and digital photos,? explained the company.

Optoma's EP1690 also features a full range of connectivity options such as a DVI w/HDCP, as well as four audio and video inputs and an integrated 3-watt speaker, which is said to transform the EP1690 into a true multimedia projector for office and home entertainment usage.

The EP1690's patent pending "wind tunnel" cooling system is designed for near-silent operation with minimal light leakage, as the projector also features an Express on/off function which enables the user to ?power on/off? the projector in just seconds. The projector also has a lower noise level usually associated with other typical data projectors.

The Optoma EP1690 digital projector is already available for an estimated street price of $1,690 through authorized Optoma dealers.
