The elections took their toll on Eric Hartsburg, as this young wrestler made the life-affirming decision to auction off tattoo space on his body, on eBay.

The 30-year-old Republican from Indiana ended up branding “R” for Romney on his right temple, a symbol that he claimed he could live with, him being an advocate for the politician.

The tattoo was done in October, and Hartsburg feels his efforts contributed greatly to the Republican campaign.

“I’m a tattoo guy, and it was something fun. […] I was trying to make politics fun. I didn’t change no lives; I’m no hero. But I shed blood for this campaign, and I’m glad to know that I did all that I could,” he says, explaining his decision.

His auction begun in August, and that particular spot right of his forehead was going for a starting bid of $5,000 (€3,938), according to the Daily Mail.

He ended up getting triple that sum, from another Mitt Romney supporter. He decided to stop right there, even rejecting a higher bid, as he wanted to get involved in a cause, and even make a difference.

“I wish it could be a more noble cause than just saying, 'hey, let's have a good time'. [...] But you only live once, and I was born with a forehead, so why not?,” he had said.

As the result of the elections rolled in, Hartsburg is not that pleased with his decision anymore, as he often faces ridicule over the “R” stamped on his face.

“Totally disappointed, man. [...] I'm the guy who has egg all over his face, but instead of egg, it's a big Romney/Ryan tattoo. It's there for life,” he puts it.
