She's a media mogul and a household name when it comes to daytime entertainment, but it wasn't always so, since Oprah started working in television many years ago. Today, the TV personality celebrates her long career in television with a look back to her first audition tape dating back from 1983.

Oprah Winfrey, who is now 60 and worth almost three billion dollars, was just a young TV presenter back in 1983, trying to get ahead in life and looking to make some changes in her career. In the video uploaded by her OWN network, Oprah explains how the tape in question came to be.

It turns out that she heard a Chicago-based morning show was auditioning for a new host and she decided to send in a tape. She claims to have stayed up all night with an editor to put together an audition tape and the result can be seen here.

For those that are interested, Oprah did eventually get the job and it took her only a couple of months to get bigger ratings than Phil Donahue and to become the highest rated talk show in Chicago. In was so successful in fact that in 1986 it was renamed The Oprah Winfrey Show and lasted for 25 years, wrapping up in 2011.
