Less than two weeks ago, Chinese company Oppo published a few screenshots showing some of the differences between current and future versions of ColorOS. ColorOS is Oppo's own version of Android operating system customized the way it sees fit.

The upcoming ColorOS 2.1 is based on Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system, which is why it's very important for developers and customers alike.

Since it's started to work on ColorOS 2.1, Oppo teased customers with information about the changes included in the major update.

After releasing four screenshots earlier this month, Oppo has now published a less than 2-minute video that shows even more new features and improvements that will be included in ColorOS 2.1.

Along with the video, the Chinese company also listed some of the most important changes such as the features that will not be available anymore after upgrading to ColorOS 2.1.

The new version of the OS should be released within the coming months

First of all, it's worth mentioning that Oppo has done some improvements to its ColorOS based on users feedback, which asked for four things: Light (remove unnecessary features that consume RAM), Fast (ensure that it runs fast and smooth), Stability (increase the overall stability of all ColorOS versions), and Power Saving (improve the battery consumption for longer battery life).

In order to achieve that, Oppo confirmed that it has removed some features, such as the messages and call icon on default lockscreen interface, the Live weather widget, dialpad tone, preset avatars in Contacts, as well as Contact relationship.

Some of these features were also removed because of the low usage rate, others because they are power consuming, while others due to both.

Furthermore, the emoticon radar has been removed as well, as well as some music features such as the “shake to switch songs,” hold and drag to adjust volume in Music interface, and the option to hide folders in Music player.

Last but not least, ringtone settings for Timer have been removed too, along with the voice wakeup feature. These are the features that won't be available in ColorOS 2.1, but others might be removed as well by the time it gets released.
