Today, Chinese device manufacturer Oppo has released a duo of smartphones, seemingly copying Apple’s successful iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus recipe.

The devices are called Oppo R7 and R7 Plus and have leaked online plenty of times before the official announcement, so smartphone enthusiasts are quite familiar with them.

However, today we get to take a good look at the new devices and learn the full extent of their story. Oppo held a dedicated press event in Beijing to honor their arrival, as reported by India Today.

Say hi to the Oppo R7 and R7 Plus

The smaller model, the R7, arrives with a 5-inch display with 1080p resolution behind 2.5D glass, while the R7 Plus boasts a lofty 6-inch display with a distinct edge-to-edge display that gives the impression that no bezels are included into the equation.

Both smartphones are fueled by the computing power of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset fitted with 3GB of RAM. Oppo offers 16GB of built-in storage for the R7 and 32GB on the Plus version, and a microSD card slot is also available if you feel like you need more.

The two new comers don a 13MP main camera with f/2.2 lens. The R7 adds single-LED functionality, while the R7 Plus offers autofocus and dual-LED flash.

The R7 measures 143 x 71 x 6.3 mm / 5.6 x 2.7 x 0.24 inches and tips the scales at 147g / 0.32 lbs, while the Plus model is 158 x 82 x 7.55 mm / 6.2 x 3.2 x 0.3 inches and weighs 203g / 0.44 lbs. The larger model is powered by a lofty 4,100 mAh battery, while the smaller phone rests on a 2,320 mAh battery.

Oppo's new smartphones take advantage of the latest Android

Both models support VOOC charging and only the Plus version comes with a fingerprint sensor located on the back.

Since Oppo has just announced its new ColorOS v2.1, which is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop, it’s only natural for the two devices to ship out with it.

The company also throws in Cat.4 LTE for download speeds of up to 150Mbps and dual SIM capabilities.

Oppo says that the two smartphones will become available for purchase in China starting tomorrow, but an international launch is also scheduled to happen sometime in mid-June. The Oppo R7 will sell for a price tag of approximately $400 / €359, while the Plus version can be yours for $480 / €432.
