Bohemia Interactive has announced that the Operation Arrowhead standalone expansion pack for its Arma 2 military simulator is now gold with the manufacturing of the retail game disks already on the way and the launch date confirmed for June 29. The new content will be delivered exclusively on the PC platform through digital distribution services and brick and mortar stores.

The Green Sea region is again the focus of the videogame as military tensions flare up after the United States Marines managed to close down the conflict in the ex-Soviet republic of Chernarus. The country of Takistan is now under threat and the United States Army must lead a coalition of forces set to maintain stability and defeat any insurgents.

The terrain and the environments, many of them urban, are easier to destroy in Operation Arrowhead, while the options the player has to improve their chances of survival are enhanced with the addition of new gadgets and weapons. The developers at Bohemia Interactive are saying the overall experience is also enhanced, the bugs and glitches that affected Arma 2 getting squashed before the launch of Operation Arrowhead.

The standalone expansion can be experienced on its own by those who are new to the series and to the military simulation concept that it employs. Long time fans can also install it over the original Arma 2 in order to benefit from updated gameplay in the Chernarus campaign.

Marek Spanel, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Bohemia, stated, “We're very proud to have finally finished work on Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead. Despite being labelled as a standalone expansion pack, the amount of content we have produced for Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead constitutes a full game by any reasonable measurement, and we’re certain that once players get their hands on it on the 29th of June, they won’t be disappointed.”
