Operation Ababil: Hackers Attack Capital One Website, Reveal Future Targets

After taking a short break, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Cyber Fighters picked up their campaign – Operation Ababil – against United States financial institutions. Their latest target is the website of Capital One Financial Corp (capitalone.com).

“A number of cyber-attacks toward the American banks planned and executed during the past weeks. Those attacks were a response to an insulting film against the great prophet of Islam which was made and broadcast on the Internet according to Zionists will and Americans management,” the hackers stated.

They stress that the “insulting photos” of Kate Middleton were almost immediately removed after the British royal family filed a complaint, but the controversial Innocence of Muslims movie is still online.

“Although you are nothing and worthless, you have something which is much respected for you. You hold it very dear and without it, life has no meaning for you: Capital, material and money,” they explained.

“Money is all your respect. Money is all your holiness. Money is all of your value. Money is all of your glory. Money is all your humanity. Money is all of your life. Money is all of your honor. Money is all your existence. Money is everything for you,” they added.

Yesterday they launched a distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack against the public website of Capital One. The site experienced an outage, but the bank’s representatives told CNBC that no other systems were affected, reassuring customers that their information was not at risk.

However, the attacks will not end here. Today, on October 10, the hackers plan to attack SunTrust (suntrust.com) and tomorrow they will target the systems of Regions Financial Corp (regions.com), both for a period of 8 hours.

Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Cyber Fighters highlight the fact that they are not connected in any way to the Trojan-based attacks launched against the customers of US financial institutions.

They once again say that all they want to achieve is the removal of the blasphemous movie.
