Opera recently announced that it has sealed a deal with South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co. in order "to provide Internet browsers for its advance mobile telephones."

While on PC you can choose between a wide variety of web browsers, the mobile world appears to be dominated by Opera, that is starting to come pre-installed on most mobile phones these days, including Windows Mobile powered Pocket PC's or Blackberry's.

And after signing a contract with Samsung, at least some of Samsung's future mobile phones will also feature the mobile version of the web browser, which means that soon enough Samsung customers will have the chance to browse the net faster and safer.

Opera is highly appreciated on mobile phones due to its ability to reformat web pages for viewing on small screens. It also allows users to navigate web pages with intuitive vertical scrolling and provides a faster and more compact mobile web browsing experience.

By reducing the size of the web sites for better viewing on small screens, Opera also reduces the size of data transferred, therefore loading web sites faster.

"Our strategies in working closely across the board with major handset manufacturers, operators and directly with end users have made Opera Mobile an attractive product," says Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. "We're proud that Opera Mobile is today's choice for Web browsing on the latest Samsung mobile handset because of its winning user experience and form factor adaptation."

The licensing deal is "per phone sold", therefore there's no information regarding the contract's total value.
