Opera users reporting crashes when enabling notifications in Gmail should be glad to learn that a new version is available with fixes.

An announcement on the Opera Desktop Team blog reveals that there’s a new Opera 18 stable build up for grabs, and it addresses the widely-reported Gmail notifications crash.

“We are continuing to work on Opera Next (19) and Opera Developer (20) in our never ending quest to provide the best web browser,” reports author Ruarí Ødegaard.

“This of course doesn’t mean we neglect the stable Opera version. Recently you guys reported crashes when enabling notifications in Gmail. Thanks for the feedback and in return here is an update to fix this issue,” Ødegaard writes.

In accordance with the announcement, the changelog for Opera 18.0.1284.63 indeed states: “Fixes crashes when enabling notifications in Gmail.”
