Following the launch of the alpha release a week ago, which introduced hardware acceleration, a new build, 1116, of Opera Next has been rolled out.

The current release focuses on improvements and fixes and does not bring anything new to the table. It dealt with a huge memory leak on Windows and features updates for the blocklists (which are also pushed through the auto-update system).

Due to bad performance issues with NVIDIA Quadro NVS caused the developer to block hardware acceleration on machines equipped with this hardware.

On the same note, 3D hardware acceleration has been retracted on computers sporting Intel GMA 3000 graphics card.

The fix list for Opera 12 Alpha 1116 also includes mending of a bug that caused the browser to crash upon closing tabs showing “dimmed” dialogs.

Overall, the developing team is putting in some real effort to improve this version of the browser and in the next weeks they will focus on the eliminating issues rather than implementing new features.
