The 2007 Best Software Awards by Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine found Opera Mobile to be the best browser for Pocket PCs or smartphones. Many may have thought it before, others might have disputed this, but the software's value has just become official.

Fourteen independent Windows Mobile experts selected Opera Mobile as the winner in the all-important Internet Browser category in the 2007 Best Software Awards. All providers and developers of mobile Internet technology and applications have been analyzed by a judging panel of experts from the wireless community. Among main competitors there also count ThunderHawk and Skweezer, both highly evolved applications.

The greatest advantage that made judges choose Opera Mobile over all other competing softwares is that it resembled most of all the features and advantages that desktop browsers have to offer their users. Moreover, it's a perfect match with mobile devices running on Windows Mobile. The software is currently being used by some of the leading handset producers, such as Sony Ericsson, Motorola, HTC, KDDI, Kyocera and many others. This preference should also account as recognition for the browser's quality, although the official award is just as good as it gets.

Opera Mobile has several evolved features to offer, including tabbed browsing for Pocket PCs, dual viewing modes, page rendering capabilities and Flash support. All this manages to bring the mobile internet browsing experience close enough to that of what desktops have gotten people used to received. It's a difference easy to easy especially when comparing this browser with others that have similar features, but not also the special ones that made Opera Mini the winner.

The software is on a rise, as it managed to receive several other distinctions, aside this one. Opera Mini also received the "Most Innovative Consumer Deployment", from the Mobile Internet World 2007.
