Today, Opera has made available for download a new flavor of its Opera Mobile application for handsets running under Google’s Android operating system and for those powered by Symbian.

We’re referring here to the final version of Opera Mobile 12, which was made official at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The new application release packs a nice range of new features, including WebGL on Android phones, so that it could offer support for 3D renderings and a better web experience.

At the same time, WebGL on mobile will enable easier development of cross platform games, while also making it easier to distribute these titles.

“Opera have contributed significantly to the development of the WebGL specification and now Opera Mobile is playing a leading role in the roll-out of GPU-accelerated WebGL on Android,” said Neil Trevett, Khronos president and vice president of mobile content at NVIDIA.

Other new features included in Opera Mobile 12 for Android and Symbian is Ragnarök, Opera's HTML5 parser support.

Through it, better web apps will be made possible, which should also offer increased compatibility with websites. Additionally, HTML5 also means more advanced web functionality.

Other features of the new application release include support for camera use in the browser, along with increased customization capabilities for the Speed Dial of Opera Mobile. For example, users will be able to enter as many Speed Dial entries as they like.

Along with the new Opera Mobile 12, the Norwegian software giant announced the availability of Opera Mini Next, with various enhancements included into the mix, such as social networking integration for feature phones.

Dubbed Opera Mini Next, the browser version was packed with the new infinite unlimited Speed Dials feature as well, and with other improvements for smartphone users.
