Today, Norwegian software company Opera Software announced the availability of their Opera Mini mobile browser in the BlackBerry App World, the app portal accessible for users in over 100 countries.

Through this release, the application becomes reachable for all devices running under Research In Motion’s BlackBerry OS.

The Opera Mini 6.5 browser has just been released via the official BlackBerry app store, but it has been available for the platform for quite some time now, and already enjoys increased usage on BlackBerry smartphones.

“Although just landing this week in the easily accessible BlackBerry App World, the world's most used mobile browser, Opera Mini, is big on the 'Berry,” Opera notes.

“By downloading it manually from m.opera.com, BlackBerry users have been saving data and money on their BlackBerries for years. Now, it's even easier to download via App World.”

Opera Mini enjoys over 160 million monthly users. The application can deliver both a fast web experience on mobile phones, as well as great savings through the data compression technology that Opera packed it with.

Moreover, the browser is capable of delivering an experience similar to the one users receive on their desktop PCs. It also offers zooming capabilities for better viewing of content, as well as great social sharing capabilities.

“All that, and data savings too! By using Opera technology, the Opera Mini browser only needs to transport ten percent of the data to your phone - a lifesaver while traveling, struggling with crowded networks, for your data cap or if you pay per megabyte downloaded,” Opera notes.

One great advantage that BlackBerry users will benefit from when browsing the Internet using Opera Mini is the possibility to use hot keys that make page-up and page-down viewing much faster.

"By adding another destination to Opera Mini's passport, we are extending our reach," said Lars Boilesen, Chief Executive Officer, Opera Software. "As the world's most popular browser, we want to take every opportunity for people to have access to our browsers, regardless of the device."

Opera Mini for BlackBerry is available for download from Softpedia as well, via this link.
