Opera Mini Is the Most Popular Web Browser

More than a year has passed since the official launch of Opera Mini. During this time, the Java ME web browser has gained considerable popularity among users as to become the most popular such application at the moment.

"We wrote Opera Mini in Java technology so that we could bring the full Internet to the largest number of mobile phones around the world", said Tatsuki Tomita, EVP, Opera Software. As it seems, the increasing popularity of Opera Mini is related especially to the fact that it has proven to be a helpful and easy to use application for many people.

Moreover, several handset manufacturers have chosen Opera Mini to be the default integrated web browser that ensures their customers' flawless Internet navigation. The Opera Mini browser has received the highest appreciation measured in download numbers from Russian, North American and Chinese people.

All there is needed for complete functionality of the Opera Mini browser is a Java technology-enabled phone. People at Opera Software are currently working on making the web browser even more reliable and better adapted to mobile phone requirements. At this moment, the browser uses an engine that reformats the pages to dimensions suitable for being displayed on small mobile phone screens by reducing their size by up to 70-90 percent.
