Opera Mini, the most popular mobile browser in the world, is now available for download via GetJar once again, after being removed from the application portal several weeks ago.
The browser was removed from the app store shortly after Opera launched its own software portal, which had a direct link placed on Opera Mini, speed dial page, and which, according to GetJar, broke the company's rules.
On Thursday, GetJar and Opera announced the availability of Opera Mini 6 through the application storefront, the latest version of the application.
“I’m glad that Opera Mini is back in the GetJar store,” said Mahi de Silva, EVP of Consumer Mobile at Opera Software.
“We believe Opera should be everywhere and we love the fact that our fans will now be able to download Opera Mini again from GetJar.”
For years, Opera Mini has been one of the top downloaded applications in the GetJar store, the two companies note.
Opera Mini 6 arrives in the app storefront with a nice range of appealing features, including the enhanced scrolling, along with panning and zooming; pinch-to-zoom on devices that support touch controls, and more.
Through the new version of the application, users would also find it easy to share content with their friends on social networks.
The Opera Mini 6 browser is now available for download on the Android, BlackBerry, J2ME and Symbian platforms. Moreover, the browser comes with optimizations for use on tablet PCs.
“GetJar remains committed to offering consumers the best possible content regardless of category, phone or platform,” said Patrick Mork, CMO of GetJar.
“Opera Mini has been a great partner and one of our top apps for many years and our users will be happy to have a bigger and better version of Opera Mini back in our store.”
Currently, Opera Mini enjoys a number of over 90 million users worldwide, and can be installed on a number of more than 3,000 devices.
