Mobile phone users around the world will soon have the opportunity to enjoy a new version of the most popular mobile browser available on the market today, Opera Mini. The company has recently put a teaser on its website that shows that fresh 5.0 version of the application is on its way to handsets in the very near future.

“Opera Mini 5 coming soon” is what the company says, and one should agree that this represents great news for a wide range of mobile phone users out there, especially considering the fact that the browser has more than 20 million users, as the Norwegian software maker recently stated.

For the time being, however, no exact details on when the new flavor becomes available have been unveiled, yet a post on My Opera says that we should expect a beta version of the browser “very, very soon.” Although the 5.0 variant of the Java ME-based mobile browser is about to make its appearance, no details on what novelties it will bring have been unveiled either.

As many of you might already know, Opera Mini has seen an impressive growth in usage lately, and the browser is expected to enjoy even more growth as its availability will be extended to more areas and handsets. The other browser from the software company, Opera Mobile, is also expected to become available for a bigger number of devices on the market, as an Android version should surface in the near future too.

Web usage on mobile phones is also on the rise, and the competition on the browsing area will certainly become tighter. Opera will try to keep its software solutions on leading positions, so we should expect for great features to be added to the upcoming Opera Mini 5.0. In the meantime, you can download the 4.2 version of the application for BlackBerry, Palm OS or Java directly from Softpedia.
