Today, Norwegian software giant Opera officially announced the availability of its Opera Max app for Android devices in some more countries out there.

The software is currently available only in a beta version, though it will still be able to provide users with a stable experience on their devices.

Following the official roll-out in late February, the app is now available for users in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan, Opera announces.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Opera Max was designed to provide users with data savings on their smartphones when accessing the Internet on a carrier’s network.

The application will run in the background and compress data sent to the device, though it is now compatible with all browsers and applications present on Android handsets and tablets.

“Opera Max is our new data-savings app that compresses videos, photos and text across most of your phone’s apps. This gives you a lot more mobile data for free, as well as better control over how your phone’s apps consume data,” Opera explains in a blog post.

At the moment, Opera is working on expanding the availability of the service to more countries out there. Given that Opera Max is still in beta, the roll out will be a slow one.
