The first release this year from Opera is from the Labs department. The team released an experimental snapshot, Opera Labs Camera, which lets you adjust privacy settings for the webcam straight from the browser’s interface.

If you navigate to a website that wants to access your camera, a pop up will alert you of the request and let you choose whether you grant permission or deny it. Your choice is not permanent, since you can change it at any time by clicking “page information” button and going to “Access” settings.

This is all done through getUserMedia API, which requires three arguments: identification of the media type, success callback (executes code when access is allowed) and failure callback. These are passed on as JavaScript objects. In case multiple cameras are available, the user should be able to choose the device to use.

Opera Labs Camera is experimental, so it may be very unstable.
