Opera Software has just launched a brand new testing build of its browser, thus allowing thus who are planning to try out the feature lineup of the next stable release to do it before it hits the market.

Opera 22 Developer bring plenty of bug fixes and improvements, but the parent company says that the main focus was on “backend changes” which would allow developers to “ready ourselves for future improvements in the UI and elsewhere.”

Specifically, the new version of Opera features a new Encoding menu, improvements to the default themes, plus a revised silent update engine for Windows. And still, this new update system isn’t working right now in this build, but the company guarantees that everything would run smoothly in the next developer release.

At the same time, Opera 22 Developer makes updates the Chromium engine to 35.0.1883.0 and eliminates all the buttons that could interrupt your normal browsing experience, the company said.

“There are no buttons to click and no UAC (User Account Control) dialog interrupting your workflow. You will be automatically updated to ensure you always have the most recent and most secure Opera version,” the release notes published today reveal.

As you could easily guess since we’re talking about the first preview build of Opera 22, the new version is available on both Windows and Mac OS X, so all users can give it a try right now. Unfortunately, a Linux build is still missing, but plans to launch a build that could be used on this particular platform are still on the table, so more news on this subject could follow in the coming months.

In the meantime, users who give a try to this new version of Opera should keep in mind that we’re still talking about a testing build of the browser, so a number of bugs and performance issues could still exist and affect your browsing experience.

Opera says that this version “includes hundreds of bug fixes, crash fixes and site rendering improvements,” but it doesn’t necessarily mean that you won’t come across more issues and errors when browsing specific websites.

Overall, if you’re the kind of user who enjoys the time spent fixing bugs and determining the cause of some performance issues, you can always give this new Opera build a try and take the new version for a spin before it is released as part of the stable channel.
