Users can install extensions hosted in the Opera add-ons store much easier

Opera Next 20.0.1387.24 is out for Mac and Windows packing so much new stuff you won’t even know where to start. The Mac installer comes with new artwork, and users now have inline installation of extensions.

On the Desktop Team blog, Helge Andre Gjølme reveals that “Opera 20 moves from the Developer Stream to the Next stream, where it’s feature complete and ready for the last phase of merciless bug squashing and optimisations for speed, glorious speed.”

The bookmarks bar now supports dragging sites from speed dial and tabs for saving as favorite, and the URL bar badge now shows a broken padlock if Opera feels that the site doesn’t have a valid certificate.

You can use big speed dial thumbnails if you like, or set the width and the height of speed dial thumbnails. New menu items are now available for Speed Dial, Discover, and Stash.

Maintenance-wise, Opera 20 Next improves stash screenshots (no more blurry images) and makes some performance improvements in the theme department.

The browser now asks users to confirm exit when hitting the Command–Q hotkey on the Mac, and there’s a new network installer for Windows users.

For extension users, “inline installation [...] makes it easier for users to install extensions hosted in the Opera addons store, but without leaving your site, thereby reducing friction.”

The Mac disk image background image has been refreshed with Norway-native critters.

“I think they are helpful trolls like those sometimes seen in the Norwegian mountains. In any case, they are there to guide you through the installation process,” writes Andre.

As usual, the download links await below. From them you can grab the latest Dev / Next / Stable build of Opera at will.
