A new Beta development snapshot of the next version of Opera is available for testing. Downloads of Opera 11 Beta Build 1145 went live earlier today with the bits now offered for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. Opera Software is advancing slowly with the development process of Opera 11, softening the rough edges of the browser.

In this regard, early adopters testing Opera 11 will not notice any new features, but will be able to tell that the Norway-based browser maker has worked to introduce a range of Tab Stacking improvements, in addition to bug fixes and other enhancements.

Tab Stacking is an innovative new Opera 11 feature which allows users to group together collections of tabs which can be managed in the same manner as individual tabs.

“In addition to fixes to extensions, the winstaller, various other cross-platform issues and crashes, this build also contains a number of tweaks and changes to tab stacking,” revealed a member of the Opera Desktop team.

“This is a development snapshot: It contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all,” he also warned customers.

Opera Software worked to integrate a range of fixes and tweaks associated with Tab Stacking. Also, users that have already tested the feature will be able to notice that the browser vendor has fixed a variety of bugs.

In addition, Opera 11 Beta Build 1145 also introduces, “no automatic stacking; improvements to dragging tabs in and out of stacks; and only the active tab in collapsed stacks are part of the tab order.”

Early adopters can of course go ahead and grab Opera 11 Beta Build 1145 and test the development snapshot for themselves. Remember this is pre-release software, end users might want to hold off until 2011 when Opera Software will have wrapped up version 11 of Opera.
