Opera has released the latest version of its feature-packed web browser with enhancements like Speed Dial Extensions, password synchronization, a slightly enhanced UI (mostly visible on the Mac), and many under-the-hood improvements and optimizations.

Opera has posted a live download counter on http://www.opera.com/ so that the world can follow their milestones. Currently, the counter shows that Opera 11.50 is closing in on 500K downloads.

But that’s not nearly as exciting as what Opera 11.50 brings in terms of new features and enhancements.

What is arguably the flagship feature in this new release, Speed Dial Extensions lets you embed your Speed Dial with small widgets that keep you updated on what is happening around the world.

If you want a weather app, you got it. If you want a Speed Dial extension that suggests an article to read from your reading list, there’s an app for that too.

Hype Machine, a popular music service that tracks emerging artists on blogs, has developed this Speed Dial extension that features the most popular tracks of the moment. If you want an easy way to stay on top, go get it.

All these extensions and more can be found here, in Opera’s official announcement.

In addition to Speed Dial Extensions, Opera 10.50 Final also brings a highly craved for password synchronization ability.

As its name implies, the feature lets you synchronize your website passwords securely with other Opera browsers across your devices.

“It's perfect for checking Facebook quickly when you're supposed to be working,” Opera Software jokes.

The software company says Opera 11.50 sports a new design that's even more streamlined and lightweight than before.

Specifically, there's a new window gradient for OS X users.

The team at Opera Software also says they’ve fixed thousands of bugs and upgraded the browser to the newest core rendering engine (Presto 2.9).

For developers, Opera 11.50 adds Session History and Navigation, the W3C File API, classlist and the <time> element to the browser’s HTML5 support.
