Opera 10.60 Beta 1 Build 3422 is now available for download with a range of enhancements over Opera 10.50, but also over previous 10.60 releases. Early adopters that will download and test-drive the new Beta development snapshot are bound to notice that Opera Software has expanded the options available to them as far as the default search engine choices in the browser are concerned. Specifically, Bing is now featured as an alternative to Google, Yahoo and others, allowing users to easily select Microsoft’s search/decision engine for the browser’s search box.

At the same time, the addition of Bing to the list of default search engines for Opera 10.60 is a great move made by Opera Software, which provides more choice to its users. “It’s great to see Bing as a choice within another of the major browser products out there, and we hope all you Opera fans out there will go get the beta and give Bing a try,” Tinter added.

With Opera 10.60 embracing Bing, Microsoft is conquering new territories for its decision engine. Recently, the Redmond company has announced that it has worked with rivals in Cupertino on a deal similar to that between the software giant and Opera Software. As a result, the latest version of Apple’s browser, Safari 5, also features Bing as a default search engine option.

“The focus on this version has been performance and core updates. We have added some nice web technologies : WebM, Geolocation, Web Workers, Offline Web Applications, Cross-Document Messaging update, etc. We do appreciate the help you guys give us with your testing. Now let’s continue making sure Opera 10.6 gets solid,” a member of the Opera Desktop Team speaking about Opera 10.60 Beta 1 noted a.
