Build 3353 is the latest development snapshot of Opera 10.52 made available for download for early adopters. As it is usually the case with pre-release software, Opera 10.52 Build 3353 is intended for testing purposes only and not for deployment into production environments. Opera Software is currently hard at work on the development of the second minor update to Opera 10.50, released earlier this year. According to the Norwegian browser maker, the build is focused on delivering bug fixes for PowerPC and on KDE 4 integration.

“Being work in progress, there are some issues that you may stumble across. PowerPC users will hit a crashing bug if they try to run the Acid 3 test. However many other sites will see a vast improvement. We'd therefore encourage users to test a range of their favorite sites and submit cash logs if they hit any. KDE users should also be aware of a crash on exit,” Opera’s Ruari Ødegaard revealed. “Even if you aren't interested in PowerPC or KDE we would encourage you to give the build a spin as there [are] fixes to Core and Carakan as well.”

Of course that, despite the focus on PowerPC and on KDE 4, Opera 10.52 Build 3353 brings to the table fixes for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. As far as the Windows build is concerned, the 'notrayicon' command line switch is now a simple preference. Additional Windows fixes include tackling problems that prevented Opera 10.51 from running on some 64-bit (x64) Windows XP copies.

Earlier this week, Opera reached an important milestone in terms of adoption. Applauding a consistent growth in terms of uptake, Opera Software has announced that there are now in excess of 100 million users worldwide running the browser. Half of Opera users are running mobile versions, while the other 50 million take advantage of the desktop flavors on top of Windows, Mac OS X or Linux.
