No less than three Release Candidate builds of Opera 10.50 were made available to testers in just the past two days. At the time of this article, early adopters are free to grab the third RC development snapshot of the next iteration of Opera. Released today, March 1st, 2010, Opera 10.50 RC3 Build 3293 is an illustrative example of the fast development pace imposed by Opera Software for the development of the successor to version 10.0. Opera 10.50 RC3 Build 3293 comes just hours after the launch of the first fully-fledged Release Candidate of Opera 10.50, Build 3291.

“You might have noticed that the 10.50 snapshots contain a lot more changes and fixes than usual. This is the result of our increased focus and has sped up the development process significantly. Thanks to the hard work of the Opera engineers Opera 10.50 for Windows has now reached RC status,” stated Huib Kleinhout, from the Opera Desktop team. “This build build mainly includes stabilization fixes, but also a new feature in (html5) video: It's now possible to seek through videos that are not completely downloaded yet. If you skip forward in a video, Opera will adjust the download process so you don't have to download the part that you are not going see.”

As per usual, only the Windows flavor of Opera 10.50 reached RC stage, with the promise that the variants for Mac OS X and Linux will follow. Opera 10.50 RC2 Build 3292 followed Opera 10.50 RC1 Build 3291 on February 28th, introducing a variety of fixes related to stability, rendering problems and offering updated translations for Opera Unite.

With the advent of RC3, it is clear that Opera Software is down to resolving specific problems. Opera 10.50 RC3 for Windows fixes these issues: user JS/Browser JS fix, DEP (Data Execution Prevention) message), fixed DSK-284262 (Double-clicking on sent mail crashes Opera), fixed US-1881 (Opera Unite applications not localized in Opera 10.50 RC and RC2),” a member of the Opera Desktop team stated.

Traditionally, the Release Candidate milestone is synonymous with the last major testing phase ahead of the final release. In this context, users should expect Opera Software to wrap up Opera 10.50 in the immediate future, especially considering the development pace for the browser.
