14 DAY TRIAL // Norwegian software company Opera is moving forward with the development of Opera 10.10 software solution, which is currently in beta. Although the company released a few weeks ago the final flavor of Opera 10.00, the road does not end here, and the 10.10 version (which also packs inside Opera's Unite strategy) is ready once again to deliver a new snapshot (Build 1792) to users who already took it upon themselves to test the beta development releases of the browser.
“The biggest change comes from the Land of Marketing and Usability Testing. We are re-branding Unite Services as Unite Applications in the name of simplicity. (Apparently, no one knew what a service was.) We still want all of you to focus on testing Unite, and ask that you leave the Sonar application running. Sonar is bundled in this snapshot, so there is no excuse for not turning it on. There are also UI changes to the default apps, so go have a look!” is what Daniel Aleksandersen from the Opera Desktop team says when announcing the new Opera 10.10 Unite Beta Build 1792.
What should be mentioned here is that this is a development snapshot and that a wide range of issues might surface fro those willing to give it a try. Even so, it comes with a series of improvements over the previous versions, including some visual adjustments, fixes for some earlier reported crashes, as well as with enhancements for the core, Opera Mail or Opera Unite. Some novelties for developers have also been included in the release, such as the fact that they need to “use the new file extension .us .ua and serve it with the MIME type application/x-opera-uniteapplication” to deliver a Unite Application from their servers.

While indeed there are a wide range of issues that will most likely surface when running the application, the development will continue, and future releases should become more stable and shape up close to the final form of Opera 10.10 Unite.
