Opera Unite gets polished

Just the past week, Opera 10.0 evolved to the next stage of its development process, with the Beta 3 build becoming available for download for testers. At that time, Opera Unite, the browser maker’s attempt at reinventing the web with a Cloud app anchored in Opera 10.0, was not integrated into the fully fledged Beta 3. This aspect has since been corrected. At this point in time, testers are free to download and start running Opera Web Browser 10.0 Build 1708 Unite Beta 3. Updated at the end of the past week, the latest release of Opera 10.0 Beta 3 is designed to bring to the table a more polished release of Opera Unite.

“There were improvements on the infrastructure and Opera's stability, as well as many other improvements, for example: the discovery of other Opera Unite instances on your local network should behave now (and be quiet if it's asked to). Opera's reconnection strategy in case of connection problems is now more flexible. The services look even shinier – with an extra touch of Opera styling,” Manuela Hutter, from the Opera Desktop Team, revealed.

However, testers should know that the changes introduced by the latest development milestone of Opera 10.0 are not limited to Opera Unite enhancements. In this regard, the Norwegian browser maker indicated that modifications spanned across Opera 10.0’s graphical user interface, core, Opera Mail for Windows, Mac OS X and UNIX builds. At the same time, Opera informed that, at the end of the past week, autoupdates were not available, and that some of the UNIX builds were missing.

“Watch out for connection issues (only with the most recent builds, of course), behavior on your local network, confusing workflow or settings, or anything else you don't feel happy with. The more detailed issues are reported, the easier it is for us to follow up,” Hutter added. “Stability work: several common crashes fixed; many Qt4 stability fixes; more Unite polishing; skin improvements, including fixing the new tab button for visual tabs; print selection should now be fixed; and Alt+Shift to switch languages should be working.”
