On November 8, Kate Lebedeff has announced that the first Release Candidate of the highly anticipated OpenMandriva Lx 2013.0 Linux operating system is available for download and testing.

As you can see from the screenshot above, OpenMandriva Lx 2013.0 RC1 includes the recently released Mozilla Firefox 25, as its default web browser, and the distro is now built on top of the beautiful and powerful KDE 4.11.2 desktop environment.

Under the hood, OpenMandriva Lx 2013.0 RC1 uses Linux kernel 3.11.6, patched with BFQ, UKSM and BFS for desktop performance. The system uses up-to-date and stable hardware drivers and user-space libraries.

Over 75 bugs were squashed since the Beta release of the upcoming OpenMandriva Lx 2013.0 distribution, which still allows users to test the Kickoff, Lancelot, Homerun and SimpleWelcome launchers, as in RC2 only the most popular one will remain.

Last but not least, this first Release Candidate of OpenMandriva Lx 2013.0 includes the OpenMandriva Management Control Centre, which will allows users to easily manage their system. More details can be found in the official release announcement.

Download OpenMandriva Lx 2013.0 RC1 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
