Big Nerd Ranch Europe is offering a five-day OpenGL Bootcamp at the old monastery Kloster Eberbach near Frankfurt (Germany). The event is held April 20-24 and will be taught by Jay Anderson and his co-instructor Carsten Haubold. Big Nerd Ranch Europe specializes in Mac OS and Unix training.

OpenGL (Open Graphics Library) is a standard specification defining a cross-language cross-platform API for writing applications that produce 2D and 3D computer graphics, and is managed by the non-profit technology consortium, the Khronos Group.

According to a post on the Big Nerd Ranch site, the five-day class will focus on advanced level visualization techniques and elevating the materials beyond simply video game development instruction, to teach attendees the ideas and techniques of OpenGL programming.

“Big Nerd Ranch offers intensive, head-down computer programming courses taught by experts in a retreat environment,” reads an excerpt. “Classroom, accommodations, and dining all take place within the same building, freeing you to learn, code, and discuss with your programming peers and instructors. At Big Nerd Ranch, we take care of the details; your only job is to learn.”

The folks at Big Nerd Ranch Europe claim they are able to create the ideal learning environment, by means such as:

- Experienced Engineers - Training Experience - Great Course Materials - 24-Hour Access to the Lab - All-Inclusive Price - Great Locations - Answers to your questions long after the course is over.

Students signing up before March 16 can save €200. Normal class price is €2800 (plus 19 percent VAT, if applicable). This includes lodging, all meals, original instruction materials, 24-hour lab access, and transportation to and from Frankfurt airport. Visit Big Nerd Ranch here for more information.
