OpenELEC, an embedded operating system built specifically to run XBMC, the open source entertainment media hub, is now at version 3.0 RC3.

This current development release is based on XBMC 12.0 Frodo, a free and open source (GPL) software media player and entertainment hub for digital media available for multiple platforms.

Highlights of OpenELEC 3.0 RC3:

• Important sound driver issues with the recent kernel versions have been solved; • A few problems in the XBMCs Audio Engine code have been solved with great help from XBMC developers "Fritsch," "wsnipex," "Martijn," and many others; • HD-Audio on Intel HDMI devices is now working out of the box.

A complete list of changes can be found in the official announcement. Download OpenELEC 3.0 RC3 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
