OpenELEC, an embedded operating system built specifically to run XBMC, the open source entertainment media hub, is now at version 3.0 RC1.

This current development release is based on XBMC 12.0 Frodo, a free and open source (GPL) software media player and entertainment hub for digital media available for multiple platforms.

Highlights of OpenELEC 3.0 RC1:

• HD audio support has been added, including DTS-MA and Dolby True-HD, via the new XBMC AudioEngine (DTS-HD / True-HD not support on AMD GPUs);
• Live TV and PVR support has been improved;
• Support for the Raspberry PI has been implemented;
• Advanced UPnP sharing is now available.

A complete list of changes can be found in the official announcement.

Download OpenELEC 3.0 RC1 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
