Mobile phones have become very important for most people, and are hardly ever left behind at home. They are also becoming more feature packed each day and might even replace other devices like standalone MP3 players or digital cameras. Nowadays, a mobile phone can be used to make and receive calls, take snapshots, listen to music, watch TV, Net browse, mobile banking, and why not, it can now also be used to open the door to your house in case you forget your keys.

By combining mobile phone technology and an electronic door lock, the Waleli GSM Doorbell allows the user to open the door with the help of their mobile phone when in need as well as speak to visitors.

The Doorbell connects visitors to the cell phone of the homeowner, who can speak to them and open the door for them by entering a pin code on the mobile phone. Although this device appears to be pretty useful, it has some minor inconveniences.

First of all, it's not possible to actually see who's visiting you. Also, without combining the device with a standard door intercom, the homeowner will be able to talk to whoever is visiting, but the visitors will not be able to answer, which makes it pretty tricky to figure out who is visiting in the first place.

But it's pretty nice to know that next time you forget your keys you'll be just a key-press away from opening the door and getting inside and that you can open the front door any time you need to, even though you are away from home.

The Waleli GSM Doorbell can be bought for $596, while for a two-way chat you can get the complete DIY install kit including intercom for $900.
