Some data has been leaked, but it's hard to say if it's genuine

On Thursday, several hacktivist collectives started a campaign called OpPetrol, an operation aimed at governments and oil companies.

Hackers News Bulletin has been keeping tabs on the operation.

So far, the hackers have managed to breach a government website from Saudi Arabia and eight government sites from Indonesia. Most of the sites have been restored, but some of them are still inaccessible.

In addition to the government sites, around 150 random commercial sites from all over the world have been defaced.

As far as data leaks are concerned, it’s difficult to say if they’re legitimate. Many of the files have already been removed from their initial locations, but the ones that are still online don’t appear to contain genuine information.

The list of targeted oil companies includes Saudi Aramco, Total, and others.
