The Japanese government is not the only one responsible for the killing of dolphins

Earlier this month, Anonymous hackers initiated a campaign called OpKillingBay. The operation has been launched in protest against the killing of dolphins and orcas in the Japanese town of Taiji.

Members of the Anonymous movement argue that Taiji officials are lying when they claim that this is part of their way of life, and that in reality, it’s only about the money.

Initially, the hacktivists only threatened the Japanese government. Distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks have been launched against Japanese government websites and the hackers even leaked some data on a tuna export program allegedly stolen from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

In a statement published on Tuesday, the hackers claim that other organizations are also responsible for the slaughtering of dolphins in Taiji, not just the Japanese government.

They say the International Marine Animal Trainers Association (IMATA), and the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) are “guilty of doing nothing” to stop the killing of dolphins and orcas. SeaWorld and other aquariums are considered “the main culprits” because they buy the animals from Taiji.

Furthermore, they also blame FedEx, Japan Air and other companies that make a profit from transporting them.

“They need to know and the public needs to know this is not [expletive] alright. We need to cut off the supply chain and it starts with those airlines who are complicit,” the hackers behind OpKillingBay stated.

“Exposing and breaching these groups will get media attention and put the focus back on Taiji. The public outcry from #BlackFish and the re-emergence of ‘The Cove’ will work in our favor.”

The hacktivists plan on launching an #OpKillingBay Twitter storm on December 1, 2013, to raise awareness.
