Several websites belonging to the government of Gabon have been disrupted by Anonymous hackers. The attacks are part of OpGabon, a campaign initiated by the hacktivists in protest against ritual killings.

So far, the websites of the Gabonese president, the Department of Defense and the Ministry of Justice have been targeted with distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks.

Some of the participants in this operation appear to be utilizing a web-based DDOS attack tool to send large amounts of packets to the websites in an effort to render them inoperable.

With these attacks, hacktivists hope to raise awareness of the situation in Gabon and put an end to the killings.

“Silence encourages the exponential growth in ritual murders. If people speak, they are at risk of being murdered themselves,” Anonymous hackers wrote in a statement at the beginning of April.
