The hackers probably gained unauthorized access to the server the sites were hosted on

Not long ago, hacktivists worldwide launched Operation Free Palestine with the purpose of showing their support for the country’s people. The Hackers Army (THA) continues the operation with the defacement of more than 1,000 sites.

“You can imprison our Palestinian brothers, but you cannot imprison our hope. We will fight till the end, and we are coming to take revenge,” the hackers wrote on the defaced pages.

Voice of Grey Hat informs that the hackers published the entire list of affected sites on Pastebin.

Judging by the list, the websites are from a large number of countries, many of them being personal blogs or online stores. Most likely, the sites were hosted on the same server which was rooted by THA.

At the time of writing most of the affected domains are back to normal.
