Hacktivists have disrupted the websites of the Egyptian Cabinet of Ministers (egyptiancabinet.gov.eg), the Ministry of Information (moinfo.gov.eg), and the Cabinet of Egypt (cabinet.gov.eg).

According to CWN, the attacks are part of Operation Egypt, a campaign initiated by Anonymous hackers in protest against the country’s government.

“Anonymous will not sit by and watch you washing away what thousands of Egyptians got killed and injured for. It’s your duty to listen to your own people,” the hackers said when they launched OpEgypt.

“The decisions you made have cause the death of 3 young Egyptians in addition to hundreds more injured. In addition, your organized propaganda is portraying your legitimate opposition as if they are opposing the revolution, which you are destroying. We challenge your propaganda machine.”

At the time of writing, the sites appeared to be inaccessible to visitors.

This is not the first time when Anonymous hackers disrupt Egyptian government sites. Back in December 2012, they launched attacks against 30 websites owned by the government.
