Social media websites are buzzing with "tango down"

The site of the Financial Services Roundtable (fsround.org), one of the companies named as a target of Operation Defense, has been taken down as a result of a massive distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack launched by Anonymous and its supporters.

Financial Services Roundtable is a firm that provides consumers from the US with banking, insurance, and investment products and services.

It’s uncertain for how long the attack on this particular site will go on, but the list of targets contains a lot of organization names, so we can expect that other tango downs will be announced in the upcoming hours. Operation Defense is a two phase operation that was initiated as a form of protest against Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA), the latest controversial anti-piracy bill proposed by U.S. Representative Michael Rogers and 29 co-sponsors.

CISPA would not only give the US government enhanced power to protect its infrastructures against cyberattacks, but also the opportunity to enforce copyrights and patents.

The list of firms that support the proposal includes AT&T, Facebook, IBM, Intel, Oracle, Verizon and many others.
