OnyX, by Titanium Software, is a free maintenance, optimization, and personalization utility for Mac OS X. It allows you to verify the Startup Disk, the structure of its System files, run miscellaneous tasks of system maintenance, configure hidden parameters, delete caches, and more. The latest version adds a dozen enhancements.

Mac users looking to tweak the parameters of Finder, Dock, Dashboard, Exposé, Safari, the Login window and even the hidden settings of some of Apple's own applications, are encouraged to download this free utility and to start optimizing the way OS X works and handles its processes. The
software also allows you to delete caches and remove a certain number of files and folders that may become cumbersome.

There's also the option to see detailed info of your configuration, and to preview the different logs and CrashReporter reports. You needn't worry about forgetting to update OnyX, since it automatically checks for updates on startup, or about using the same look of the application as everyone else, as you can easily modify its appearance, tweaking up aspects such as window transparency, the icon and the toolbar icons, and more.

With the release of OnyX 1.9.6 Beta 3, deleting logs option has been improved, rebuilding the display of folders content is now corrected, new tab Parameters > Spotlight are now available, show/hide Bonjour browser in Screen Sharing has been added, as well as show/hide full toolbar in Screen Sharing. Moreover, the Desktop can be saved before modifying and relaunching the Finder, while you can set Help Viewer window to floating or non-floating mode, and choose the application to execute at launch of X11.

Other tweaks include modifications to the Automation panel, misc corrections in the translations, an updated Help menu, and an improved application deleting from Uninstaller.

Requirements call for Mac OS X version 10.5 or later (Leopard). Click HERE to download OnyX 1.9.6 Beta 3, or the latest stable version of the software (version 1.9.5). OnyX is a Universal Binary.

NOTE: OnyX must be installed from an admin account in order to run correctly.
