14 DAY TRIAL // Despite several rumors about Britney Spears considering calling off the Circus tour, the singer is still doing the performances as scheduled. However, problems do appear, as it happened the other night, when Britney was in Pittsburgh, and a lift prop that was supposed to take her up and then down again was visibly not steady enough to hold her.
As Britney was performing “I’m a Slave 4 U,” towards the end of the track, she was supposed to get into a steel elevator that would lift her up above the stage as flames would burst underneath her. While up in the air, the singer would have continued to dance – and she would have done so until she would have been brought back safely to the ground again. In Pittsburgh, though, things did not quite go as planned, and Britney was obviously scared.
The moment Spears put her foot in the elevator, she realized that it was unsteady and that there were chances it might not hold her for the ride up and down. However, in what has been labeled a true moment of professionalism, Britney got on it either way, although she was obviously scared. In fact, the singer was so mortified that she barely moved at all for the duration of the ride (standing in an awkward position for more balance) and barely mouthed a couple of words here and there, despite the fact that the playback was running. In other Circus-related news, just recently, rumor emerged that Britney was considering calling everything off after receiving several death threats, as spies reportedly close to her told the media. Apparently, she was too scared for her own life and, most importantly, for that of her two boys to risk everything, so she was determined to cancel the rest of appearances from Circus if that was what it took to keep herself and her family safe.
“Britney received some anonymous death threats over the phone and in the mail, and her worst fear is a kidnap plot against Sean or Jayden. She’s been having terrible nightmares ever since then and she wakes up in the middle of the night crying out for her boys. She told her head of security and he thinks it’s a lone stalker. Her paranoia has reached fever pitch and she’s wracked with fear.” an unnamed but allegedly reliable source told the media a while back. Since nothing more of this was heard in the meantime, one can as well assume that it was nothing but idle talk.
