After the critical success of “Drive,” it’s great news to hear that director Nicolas Winding Refn is teaming up with actor Ryan Gosling again. Their latest joint venture is called “Only God Forgives,” and above is a first taste of it.

Granted, both audio and video could stand some a lot of improvement but even so, this teaser is more than enough to confirm that we’re in for one heck of a ride.

“Julian (Gosling) lives in exile in Bangkok where he runs a Thai boxing club as a front for the family’s drugs smuggling operation. When Julian’s brother Billy is killed their mother, Jenna (Kristen Scott Thomas), arrives in the city,” a brief synopsis of the film says.

In her thirst for revenge, Jenna will force Julian to seek out his brother’s killer, The Angel of Vengeance, and to kill him: blood demands blood.

Easier said than done, as Julian is about to find out.

For the time being, “Only God Forgives” doesn’t have a release date (except for Denmark and Norway, and the Netherlands, where it drops in May and September, respectively), but it’s believed to arrive at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
