Microsoft will officially unveil the new Windows 8.1 operating system on October 18, so we’re only 10 days away from the launch of a fresh update for the company’s flagship product.

As you most likely know by now, Windows 8.1 is going to be offered as a free download to Windows 8 adopters, while users of older versions or other operating systems will need to purchase a license before upgrading.

Windows 8.1 will be available for $119.99 (€90) in case you want to purchase the core version, while the Pro package will have a price tag of $199.99 (€150).

As far as Windows 8 users are concerned, they will have two different options to upgrade. First, they can download the update free of charge from the integrated Windows Store, or get a separate ISO and perform a clean install using a legitimate Windows 8 key for activation.
