Prolexic, a security firm that specializes in fending off cyberattacks, has released an online tool called DDOS Downtime Calculator.

Distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks have become a major issue in the past years, especially because the targeted companies can lose a lot of money because of the service disruptions and workflow interruptions.

The application launched by Prolexic allows organizations to assess the risks and resulting downtime costs associated with DDOS attacks. Customers can assess not only their current status, but also hypothetical scenarios by changing the variables.

DDOS Downtime Calculator provides a report that’s based on a questionnaire divided into three sections: cost savings, experience and technologies. Users are aided throughout the entire questionnaire completion process with clarifications, tips and advice.

“Prolexic developed this calculator so businesses can evaluate their unique DDoS risk and downtime cost based on hard numbers, not guesswork,” Stuart Scholly, president at Prolexic, noted.

“We know from previous years that DDoS attacks ramp up during the critical holiday sales period, so this calculator will help businesses make more informed decisions about DDoS protection in the coming weeks.”
