Products based on the next-generation ION 2 platform from NVIDIA have already started coming out, with Acer being among the first to promote the new technology with its Aspire One 532G netbook (recently showcased at the Mobile World Congress 2010). Even so, however, it seems that the “older” ION platform is not dead yet, with Onkyo now shipping an all-in-one desktop PC based on this platform. Powered by an Intel dual-core processor and NVIDIA integrated graphics, the DE411 PC brings Full-HD media capabilities in a space-efficient design.

The all-in-one desktop personal computer measures 537 x 374 x 76.3~210 mm and operates on the Intel Atom 330 dual-core central processing unit. This processor has a clock frequency set at 1.6 GHz and is paired with 2GB of RAM. As far as storage is concerned, space is provided by a hard disk drive with a maximum capacity of 320GB, with optical storage enabled by a DVD writer.

Furthermore, the GeForce 9400M integrated graphics provides the Onkyo DE411 with the ability to play back Full-HD videos. This capability is fully taken advantage of by the 21.5-inch high-performance liquid crystal display (LCD) panel, whose maximum resolution is of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The GeForce 9400M has full support for DirectX 10.

Among the other specifications of the product are a media card reader, 802.11b/g WiFi wireless capabilities, Gigabit Ethernet and 5.1-channel audio. The product also comes with a Digital TV Tuner and two 5Wspeakers.

The Onkyo DE411 is running the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit operating system (OS) and has already been made available on the Japanese market. The product carries a price tag of $979. At this time, it is still unknown when, if ever, this all-in-one Full HD-capable computer will be made available on other markets.
