The flagship will take advantage of a Snapdragon 810 chip

Chinese up-and-rising smartphone maker OnePlus managed to create quite a lot of hype around it with its first One handset, which arrives with CyanogenMod 11S out of the box.

The product packs some pretty advanced specs, including a 5.5-inch 1080 display, a Snapdragon 801 processor and 3GB of internal storage, and it’s offered at a very acceptable rate, that of $300 / €271.

A few months back, rumors emerged online saying that the company was hard at work developing a sequel for the original product, which will apparently take advantage of Qualcomm’s controversial chip, the Snapdragon 810.

We’ve also heard that OnePlus is looking to make things more premium, so the company will no longer be outfitting the OnePlus Two with a polycarbonate back (as it did with the OnePlus One) and will go with metal instead.

This week, a new report coming to us from Gizmo China confirms that OnePlus does indeed have big plans for its sequel.

OnePlus Two will cost you more

Sources familiar with the matter claim the OnePlus Two will take advantage of a laser focus fingerprint identification system that will be embedded in the home button.

Design-wise, the new phone coming under OnePlus’ banner is said to deeply resemble the Oppo Find 7 handset. But the OnePlus One already looks like the Find 7, so we’re basically being told that OnePlus plans to maintain a similar design with its next phone.

In line with earlier information, we’re also being told that the upcoming OnePlus Two will be priced higher than the current model, which makes sense especially if the phone will be all-metal clad.

Sadly, the phone might not arrive with a microSD card slot, removable battery or wireless charging technology.

Previously, it has also been rumored that the OnePlus sequel will make it out with a 5.5-inch display with QHD resolution, an upgrade from the FHD standard offered onboard the OnePlus One given that most flagships released these days arrive with a QHD display (minus the OnePlus One).

As for the launch date, OnePlus is still on track to launch the smartphone in Q3 2015, just as we told you some time ago.
