One of the most appealing mobile phones expected to become available for purchase before the end of this year is the OnePlus One, a handset that will become official on April 23, its maker has officially confirmed.

The upcoming device has been long teased as being set to hit shelves as the first smartphone out there to have been built from the ground up for the CyanogenMod software, and it seems that enthusiasts won’t have to wait too long to learn more on what it will have to offer to them.

OnePlus, the company behind the smartphone, announced in a forum post that it would fully unveil the new smartphone on April 23, but did not offer additional info on what to expect regarding its availability.

However, the company shared some details on the phone’s specs before, confirming that it would sport a 6-inch touchscreen display when released, but that it would not be larger than a 5-inch handset.

Moreover, the mobile phone maker also confirmed that the upcoming device would be released with a Snapdragon 801 processor inside right from the start.

Previously, the company had said that OnePlus One would be launched with a Snapdragon 800 chipset inside, but it appears that they actually managed to upgrade it even before making it official.

Among the details that OnePlus shared to the world on its upcoming mobile phone, we can count the fact that users will be able to take advantage of the capabilities of a 13-megapixel Sony Exmor camera placed on its back.

The camera comes with a 6-lens setup and sports an f/2.0 aperture, which suggests that it will be able to provide great imaging capabilities to its users. Moreover, we know that the OnePlus One will pack a 3100mAh battery inside, which should translate into long usage times available for its users.

According to the company, the phone will come to the market with an aluminum unibody design, and should sport a price tag well below $400 (though the exact amount that users will have to pay for it hasn’t been unveiled as of now).

There are still a lot of details on OnePlus One to be shared to the world, but they won’t become official until April 23, so we’ll have to wait for that day to arrive to learn more on the matter.

One thing that appears to be almost certain is the fact that the device will run under the Android 4.4 KitKat platform right from the start. The CyanogenMod team has already released builds based on this OS version, and it would not come as a surprise if it loaded this platform iteration on top of the first CM phone out there.
