Lots of stuff has been happening in the OnePlus camp in the last few months. For starters, the Chinese company has broken the bond with popular custom ROM maker CyanogenMod and is now working towards developing its own custom ROM.

The company announced Oxygen OS during a dedicated event a few days ago and introduced the team responsible with the development of the custom ROM, which includes a lot of ex-Paranoid Android team members.

While we wait for the upcoming OnePlus 2, which is expected to arrive in the wild rocking a Snapdragon 810 processor on the inside and a hefty 4GB of RAM, we should turn our attention to the company’s current OnePlus One model.

International versions of the OnePlus One still ship out with CynoagenMod 11S, so if you are the owner of one such handset, we have good news for you.

You can make your OnePlus One snap 50MP images

Does the possibility of snapping 50MP pictures with your OnePlus One sound good to you? Yes, we’re not joking, it’s a legit question.

Well, if the answer is yes, you’ll be glad to know that the folks over at xda-developers have managed to port Oppo’s ColorOS camera app (the one on the Oppo Find 7) to CyanogenMod 11S.

The app is capable of snapping 50MP images thanks to an image interpolation technology.

And you won’t even have to root your device! How cool is that? The process of getting this app on your device is extremely easy and straightforward.

Just download the .APK from the xda-developers forum and install it like you would any regular .APK. Then proceed to install the plug-in as a normal APK. Last but not least, you’ll have to clear data of the Camera app after installing the plugin.

On top of being able to shoot 50MP pictures with your OnePlus One, the xda-developers post also claims users will be allowed to tap into 4K recording with pause/resume support, HDR recording, SlowMotion recording plus get access to change saturation, burst mode, ISO settings and such.

Since the ColorOS camera app for CyanogenMod 11S is in beta mode for the time being, you can expect to be faced with a few problems, most importantly some plugins might not be working. Furthermore, owners might find it’s not possible to use more than 5 plugins.
