Many OnePlus One owners have been expecting the OxygenOS upgrade for quite a long time. Sadly, the major update has been recently delayed and OnePlus has yet to offer a new ETA for the release of OxygenOS.

The good news is five OnePlus fans will be getting OnePlus One 64GB smartphones for free due to the delay of the OxygenOS.

The company made a promise when it announced OxygenOS should be available for download on or after March 27, that it will give away 5 OnePlus One phones to fans.

According to OnePlus Head of Mobile Product, “the ROM is fully functional and we have quite a few people in the office running it on their own devices without any issues. The delay is caused by extra quality control.

“We want to make sure that OxygenOS passes Google certification, that all future updates can be OTA'ed properly, and that users from all over the world are able to use OxygenOS in the language of their choice.”

OnePlus' official also announced the winners of the giveaway chosen at random from those who responded to the thread on the company's forum:@LMH98, @jaypeesmith, @Rushaabh, @topgun1984, @greenboyotb.

The company also promised that starting this week, it will provide daily news on the status of OxygenOS, no matter how small the changes will be.

In the same piece of news, OnePlus also offered some insight on the CyanogenMod 12 OS upgrade which is slated for release on March 30 after being delayed for a few times.

“Most of you are probably also wondering when CM12 will be available. While we don’t have a lot of influence over CM’s release schedule nor development progress, we’ve been providing resources and scheduling test cycles to help with this last stretch.
