All ye of little faith were right about Windows Live OneCare. Form Kaspersky to Sana Security, security developers have expressed their doubts in relation to the performances of OneCare for Windows Vista. The Virus Bulletin VB100 test came to confirm the worries of the security industry related to Microsoft's antivirus and antispyware product.

Natalya Kaspersky, CEO of Kaspersky Lab: “I will risk making the following prediction. Microsoft’s antivirus will improve its detection rates and take its place among its competitors. OneCare will offer good user features (something Microsoft has always been good at). However, OneCare is unlikely to become a leader either in terms of response time to new threats or in terms of detection rates.”

Natalya Kaspersky's statement had been made before the final version of OneCare was made available to the public. Kaspersky Lab's CEO referred to OneCare as an added security risk instead of a security solution.

Now Microsoft Windows Live OneCare 1.5 has also failed the VB100 test along with McAfee VirusScan Enterprise version 8.1i, G DATA AntiVirusKit 2007 v. 17.0.6353 and Norman Virus Control v.5.90.

Alwil Avast! Professional Edition 4.7, CA Anti-Virus 8.2.013, CA eTrust Integrated Threat, Management Suite r.8.1, CAT Quick Heal AntiVirus Plus 2007 version 9.00, ESET NOD32 antivirus system 2.7, Fortinet FortiClient 3.0.379, F-Secure Anti-Virus for Vista 2007, Grisoft AVG 7.5.433, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0.2.546, Sophos Anti-Virus 6.5.1 and Symantec AntiVirus 10.2.0.276 are among the solutions that passed the VB100 test. In this regard, the security solutions from F-Secure, Grisoft, Sophos and Symantec are the best choices for protecting Vista.
