Microsoft announced earlier this week that SkyDrive would be renamed to OneDrive, but just like I’ve told you yesterday, the software giant could actually face more legal action due to this name.

According to a report by Neowin, One.com, a company that’s offering a cloud-based storage service under the name “Cloud Drive,” is currently considering its options, suggesting that it could even start a lawsuit against the software giant for picking such a close name for a service that has a similar purpose.

“[OneDrive is] a name that is very close to One.com's own cloud service,” Thomas Medard Frederiksen, chief operating officer of One.com, was quoted as saying by the source.

“It was a big surprise to me that Microsoft have decided to name their cloud service OneDrive. For me, it's important to protect our brand company name. I would have expected that Microsoft would have done more thorough research, before releasing their new name. They are after all one of the big players in the market.”

Microsoft is yet to release a statement on this, but we’ve reached out to the company to find more information, so we’ll update the article accordingly.
